Medvedev and Alcaraz Will Be the Two Tennis Leading Contenders for the 2022 Rogers Cup

The 2022 Rogers Cup is the first ATP 1000 tournament after Wimbledon, taking place in Montreal, Canada, from August 8 to 14.

It’s an unfortunate that Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer were unable to attend this year’s tournament due to injuries. Djokovic was also absent due to visa issues.

All eyes will be on Daniil Medvedev and Carlos Alcaraz as a result. Medvedev had a perfect warm-up before the tournament, having just won the Los Cobos Open.

However, the Russian tennis player is falling into an extremely difficult bracket when he meets “strong” rivals from the very beginning.

Medvedev was given a break in the first round and almost face Nick Kyrgios, the player who had just won the runner-up at Wimbledon, in the second round.

In the third round, Medvedev’s potential rival is Shapovalov, the host country’s tennis player or “Little Federer” Dimitrov.

Hubert Hurkacz will be a potential rivals of the Russian tennis player in the quarter-finals. In the semi-finals, Medvedev may have to face Casper Ruud or Auger Aliassime.

Meanwhile, Carlos Alcaraz fell into a rather favourable draw. The Spaniard is exempt from the first round and the rival in the next 2 rounds is not too difficult. The most notable name is Marin Cilic, but the Croatian tennis player is past his peak.

The bracket has the appearance of Andy Murray, but the British player soon has to face Taylor Fritz in the first round. If he plays well, Murray can meet Rublev to compete for tickets to the quarter-finals. There are also two potential rivals of “Little Nadal” in the quarter-finals.

Sinner and Tsitsipas are the two most well-known names in the remaining quarter-finals. Berrettini is also an outstanding tennis player. However, because all three of these players are in predictable form, the quarter-final draw is the most likely to shock.
