Megawati becoming MVP in Korean Volleyball League

Red Sparks coach Ko Hee Jin admitted that it was not easy to get a player as good as Megawati Hangestri Pertiwi.

Ko Hee Jin praised Megawati to the skies after becoming MVP when the Red Sparks beat IBK Altos 3-2 in the Korean Volleyball League match, Tuesday (14/1).

“It’s not easy to find a player like Megawati. Skill is important, but attitude is also the most important. Mega deserves a thumbs up,” said Ko Hee Jin.

Megawati could get a long contract in the Korean Volleyball League after performing brilliantly with the Red Sparks in the 2024/2025 season.

Thanks to Megawati’s great performance, the Red Sparks achieved 10 consecutive wins in the Korean Volleyball League this season. Not only this season, the consecutive wins also became new history for the club.

The reason is, apart from delivering her 10th victory, Megawati also set a new record, namely scoring the most points in one match during the Korean Volleyball League, 44 points.

Through these nicks, Megawati caused a commotion in the Korean Volleyball League in the last few days.

Apart from praise, the spotlight is also on Megatron, Megawati’s nickname, who has the potential to get a long contract in the Korean Volleyball League.

South Korean media, My Daily, said that the head of the company wanted to give Megawati a three-year long contract.

So far, Megawati has only had a one year contract at Red Sparks. The first season contract is in 2023/2024 and then a one year contract extension in the second season, 2024/2025.

It is also claimed that this long contract will have a significant impact on Megawati’s salary. In the second season, regulations in the South Korean Volleyball Federation stated that Megawati’s salary was worth 220 million won or the equivalent of IDR 2.47 billion.

However, seeing the extraordinary performance in the second season, with a three-year contract Megawati can earn a salary of up to IDR 22.5 billion.

“The head of the company wants to sign a long-term contract for 3 years and salary 2 billion won, not 200 million won,” wrote My Daily.
