Megawati Hangestri Pertiwi made a negative debut in the first game of the Korean Volleyball League final after losing to Pink Spiders, Monday (31/3/2025).
Stepping into the final is the highest achievement for Megatron and friends, Megawati’s nickname, with Red Sparks.
Last season, Red Sparks’ hopes of stepping into the final were stopped by Pink Spiders. Megawati and friends lost 1-2 to their opponents in the playoff round.
Red Sparks’ success in stepping into the final was also accompanied by Megawati’s increasing performance. Megawati’s performance this season has been increasingly significant with Red Sparks.
Megawati is also determined to bring Red Sparks to win the 2024/2025 Korean Volleyball League. However, Megawati’s dream must go through a steep road.
Competing at Incheon Samsan World Gymnasium, the Red Sparks had to accept a 0-3 (21-25, 22-25, 19-25) defeat from the Pink Spiders.
Megawati performed less freely in her debut in the Korean Volleyball League final. The attacks launched by the Indonesian volleyball star were often suppressed by the Pink Spiders led by the Queen of Korean Volleyball, Kim Yeon Koung.
Megawati was only able to score 13 points or the second highest scorer for the Red Sparks under her teammate, Vanja Bukilic who managed to score 17 points.
This was a performance below Megawati’s standards. Moreover, she previously performed brilliantly in the Red Sparks’ last match by scoring 26 points against Hillstate in the playoff round.
Nevertheless, Megawati still has a chance to bring the Red Sparks to victory this season. The requirement is to win the second game of the Korean Volleyball League final on Wednesday (2/4).
On the other hand, Korea’s Volleyball Queen, Kim Yeon Koung, performed impressively in the first game of the Korean Volleyball League final.
Kim Yeon Kyung, who will retire at the end of the season, performed impressively. The 37-year-old volleyball athlete managed to lead the Pink Spiders’ aggressive attacks throughout the match.
