Megawati Hangestri Pertiwi became the top scorer as Red Sparks performed superiorly by defeating IBK Altos 3-0 (25-18, 25-14, 25-21) in the continuation of the South Korean Volleyball League at Daejeon Chungmu Gymnasium, Monday (12/31/2024).
In the first set, Red Sparks immediately stepped on the gas. After Vanja Bukilic contributed two early points for Red Sparks, Megawati contributed the third point through a hard spike.
After that, Red Sparks advanced without any obstacles until the point was 8-3. IBK had time to catch up, but Koo He Jin’s team was unstoppable and won 25-18.
Entering the second set, Red Sparks became more confident. After Bukilic and Megatron, Megawati’s nickname, opened the first two points, Red Sparks were unstoppable until the score was 11-2.
Far behind, IBK managed to rise. However, Bukilic and Megawati went even crazier with their hard spikes. The second round was finally won by Red Sparks with a score of 25-14.
As if not wanting to lose three straight sets, IBK played more daringly at the beginning of the third set. The result was that they were leading 3-1, before finally being chased to 6-6.
IBK did not lose their spirit. They became even braver. Megawati and Bukilic’s actions were blocked well. This made the points chase until the score was 9-10.
In a situation of being two points behind, Megawati scored points in a row so that the score was tied. In the end, Red Sparks turned the lead to 15-14.
After that, the point chase happened again fiercely. Red Spark then passed the safe point by leading 22-19 through Megawati’s hard spikes.
Then Bukilic scored twice through ice service which made the score 24-19. Red Spark’s winning point was finally created through a block.
In this match, Megawati contributed 18 points or the highest. This became Red Spark’s eighth consecutive victory, surpassing the 2008/2009 season record.
