Barcelona won 4-2 against Sevilla in the Spanish La Liga competition at the Camp Nou Stadium on Sunday (10/21) early morning. Philippe Coutinho took Barcelona ahead in the second minute after getting a pass from Lionel Messi.
Coutinho’s goal was inseparable from Lionel Messi’s foresight in providing feedback. The player nicknamed La Pulga passed the ball on the sidelines of Sevilla defense after seeing an open space for Coutinho to score a goal.
Receiving a mature pass, Coutinho put the ball into the far post which Tomas Vaclik’s goalkeeper could not anticipate.
Lionel Messi added Barcelona’s lead 10 minutes later precisely in the 12th minute thanks to an assist from Luis Suarez. Messi’s horizontal kick to the bottom right failed Vackan.
In that match, Messi had to be pulled out in the 26th minute after experiencing problems in his right elbow, and was replaced by Ousmane Dembele. Messi’s injuries was because the player nicknamed La Pulga dueled with Franco Vazquez. When the two players duel occurred on the left side of the Sevilla defense, Messi got a challenge from Vazquez. But Messi was wrong when he fell on the field. Messi’s right hand that first touched the field grass must hold back the 31-year-old’s body. Messi immediately groaned in pain while holding his right elbow. The elbow also had a bandage.
Luis Suarez doubled the hosts’ lead to 3-0 through the penalty spot in the 63rd minute. Penalty given by referee Juan Martinez after Vaclik violated Suarez.
Sevilla reduced the position through Pablo Sarabia after taking advantage of Ever Banega’s pass in the 79th minute. Sarabia’s kick into the top right corner of Barcelona’s goal made goalkeeper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen not move.
Midfielder Ivan Rakitic added to Barcelona’s advantage in the 88th minute with a volley using a bouncing ball from Dembele pass blocked by Sevilla defender.
Luis Muriel changed the score to 2-4 in the 90th minute + 1 using Wissam Ben Yedder’s pass. The ball placed by Muriel to the far post failed to be ignored by Ter Stegen. This is Barcelona’s first victory in the last five matches. In the previous four games the Blaugrana won three draws and one defeat.
“Tests carried out on the main squad player Lionel Messi confirmed that he broke a radial bone in his right hand. He will be out for about three weeks,” Barcelona said.
If Messi is truly absent in a prestigious match against Real Madrid later, then the match will be the first El Clasico without the presence of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo since 2007.
Quoted from Squawka, when El Clasico without Messi and Ronaldo happened in 2007, Real Madrid won (1-0) at Camp Nou with Julio Baptista becoming the only goal scorer in the match.
