Messi Two Goals, Barcelona Beat Huesca 8-2

Lionel Messi contributed a pair of goals as Barcelona successfully beat the promotion team of Spanish La Liga Huesca with a score of 8-2 at Camp Nou Stadium on Sunday (2/9).

Barcelona were surprised by Huesca’s quick goal in the 3rd minute. Samuel Luongo’s cross was managed by Juan Camilo Hernandez to beat goalkeeper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen.

Behind one goal in front of the public itself makes Barcelona whipped up. Lionel Messi penetrated to pass three players before breaking down Huesca’s goal through a placed measured in the 16th minute.

Eight minutes later, Barcelona turned superior thanks to an own goal from Jorge Pulido. Luis Suarez widened the hosts’ advantage to 3-1 after using Jordi Alba’s mature pass. However, Barcelona was again shocked by Alex Gallar’s goal at the end of the first half while closing the first round with a score of 2-3.

In the second half, Barcelona went berserk and stranded Huesca’s goalpost five goals. Osmane Dembele scored Barcelona’s first goal in the second half followed by goals from Ivan Rakitic, Messi, Jordi Alba and Suarez.

Barcelona’s last goal was created through a penatly after Suarez dropped by Warner in the white box. Suarez, who acted as executor, managed to carry out his duties well. This big win led Blaugrana to the top of the La Liga standings with nine points from three matches. However, Barcelona are only on goal difference from rivals Real Madrid, who also pack the same points.

El Barca’s massive advantage over Huesca spawned their biggest winning record in Ernesto Valverde’s coaching era in the Spanish League. Alverde started to coach Barcelona in May 2017.

Quoted from Sport.es, an 8-2 score over Huesca surpassed the results achieved by Barcelona over Eibar and Girona (6-1) last season. Although fantastic, an 8-2 victory over Huesca is nothing compared to Barcelona’s all-time record. The score ranked only 29th in the list of Barcelona’s biggest wins in the Spanish La Liga.

The absolute record is still recorded in the derby versus Gimnastic Tarragona on September 11, 1949. In the second week of the Spanish League 1949-1950 match, Barcelona destroyed Gimnastic with a score of 10-1.

The 8-2 score has occurred three times in the history of Barcelona in La Liga.

The previous two appeared when they crushed Granada (1961) and Real Sociedad (1950).
