Paris Saint-German’s striker Neymar revealed a striking difference between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. Neymar who is currently in the category of elite green field star is ranked 12th at the 2018 Ballon d’Or award. Meanwhile, the 2017 Ballon d’Or winner, Cristiano Ronaldo, perched in second place under Luka Modric from Kroatia. Not winning this year award, Ronaldo sat back and remained silent as his family and friends did all the talking on the Juventus man’s behalf. On the other hand, FC Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi was fifth.
As a fellow great footballer, Neymar apparently realized the difference between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. “Ronaldo has moved from a midfielder to a striker and a goalscorer,” Neymar said as quoted from the Daily Express.
“Instead of passing opposing players all the time, Ronaldo prefers to do one or two movements, enter the penalty box, and score goals,” said Neymar again. In the age of 33, Cristiano Ronaldo did not lose his sharpness.
In the 2018-2019 season, Ronaldo, was only played by coach Massimiliano Allegri in two positions, namely the left wing (12 matches) and strikers (6). Both being as a winger (5 goals, 6 assists) and the stricker (6 goals, 1 assist), Ronaldo is equally productive.
Neymar also expressed the extra value of Lionel Messi, which Ronaldo did not have. “Sometimes you see Messi scoring when playing from the midfield position. At that time, I might still be running on the field, but he has scored,” Neymar said. “So, maybe Messi is the best,” Neymar added. Aged 31 which is two years younger than Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi shows his ferocity in the 2018-2019 season.
So far Messi is the Champions League top scorer with 6 goals. As for the Spanish League, Messi successfully packed 9 goals and 7 assists from 12 appearances. Unlike Ronaldo who played only two positions this season, Messi occupies three positions, namely the right wing (13 matches), striker (2), hole attacker (1).
For the time being, the PSG star would definitely be hoping to claim the crown in the near future, especially since Messi and Ronaldo are currently in the twilight of their careers.
