Michael Carrick Leaves after 15 Years of Service to Manchester United

Michael Carrick is set to leave Manchester United after 15 years of service to the club as both a player and a manager.

“My time at this wonderful club will always be considered the best years of my career. When I first signed my contract more than 15 years ago,” Carrick said.

“In my wildest dreams I could never have imagined winning so many titles, and certainly never will. Forget great memories both as a player and as a member of the coaching staff.” Carrick added.

Carrick has left the role of Man United first-team manager to make way for new manager Ralf Rangnick shortly after the 3-2 victory over Arsenal on Thursday.

United sport director John Murtough admiited Carrick is one of the best players and managers in their History. He also wishes all the best for Carrick.

“Michael is leaving after 15 years of service to the club as both a player and a manager, with our sincerest thanks and best wishes best of everyone at Man United.” Murtough said.

“While we are saddened by his passing, we respect and understand Michael’s decision. He will always be known as one of the best midfielders in Man United history and as a brilliant coach who worked tirelessly under two managers to help develop develop a strong squad that Ralf will be in charge of.

“We are grateful for the steady leadership Michael has shown through this transition. He will always be welcomed back as a club legend.” Murtough added.

Carrick joined United from Tottenham in 2006. He played 464 matches forUnited between 2006 and 2018, winning five Premier League titles, the FA Cup, two League Cups, the 2008 Champions League, the 2017 Europa League and the 2008 FIFA Club World Cup.

After his playing career ended in 2018, Carrick joined the coaching staff of two managers Jose Mourinho and then Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
