Following former FIFA president Sepp Blater ongoing corruption scandal, former UEFA president Michael Platini has appealed against his banned from football for corruption to the European Court of Human Rights.
Speaking to French media, Le Monde, Platini told that he still wants “justice is changed” and he will fight the FIFA’s sanction.
“It’s a fight for rights against an injustice and if, above and beyond me, this can evolve FIFA, so much the better. I want justice done to me. I want to rehabilitate my reputation and I’m going to the ECHR, which others can’t do, because I’m not afraid of FIFA. Platini said.” Platini said.
“This appeal is consistent with what I’ve always said. I have done nothing wrong and I’m determined to exercise my full rights and to prove my innocence.” Platini added.
Platini was originally banned for eight years in December 2015. The Ethics Committee determined that he was not allowed to accept an amount of $ 2 million in retroactive pay that had been paid to him.
The Frenchman’s sanction was reduced to six years by the appeal committee of FIFA, and four years in May 2016, by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) of Lausanne.
But after exhausting all possible routes in Switzerland, Platini decided to turn his justice. All this business is the consequence of a payment deemed “unfair” by the Swiss prosecutor and affected by Platini in 2011 from former FIFA president Sepp Blater.

The corruption scandal had pushed the former of France manager to withdraw his candidacy for the presidency of the world body before the election of February 26, 2016.
“I dispute this appeal with the ECHR all sanction procedures of FIFA and arbitration of the CAS. I could, a year and a half from the end of my suspension, continue to enjoy life, but I don’t want to give up.” Platini said.
“I’ve met a lot of people who told me not to give up, so I’m continuing. I first had to lose all the other matches to begin this one but, even if right now I’ve been relegated to lower leagues, the title will go right to the wire.” Platini added.
