After many adventures and postponements, the new construction of Michelin will be provided to the MotoGP riders. The series of the new front tire with a more rigid carcass probably knew its epilogue Friday night at Le Mans, while the introduction of this one, repeated many times since the beginning of the season, was finally voted by a majority.
The MotoGp Safety Commission voted in favor, 20 out of 23 riders, to use this new carcass from the next round of the MotoGP calendar, which will take place from 2 to 4 June at Mugello Grand Prix.
This new construction is not a discovery for the MotoGP championship. The latter had already been used at the end of last season, during the final round in Valencia and during the pre-season tests that had taken place on this same track in the wake.
Despite the first test, Michelin opted for a supple front tire construction in the first few days of 2017, in spite of the calls made by Movistar Yamaha rider Valentino Rossi. According to the Doctor, his lack of ease on the Yamaha handlebars would be largely related to the behaviour of the front tire used so far, which would lack stability on braking, and therefore would not confidently enter the run.
The different riders are able to get a better idea of the benefits of this pneumatic solution. And the least we can say is that opinions diverge in the paddock. Therefore, the decision to use the most rigid carcass at Mugello is not without causing some stir.
Among those who climb to the niche, the most virulent undoubtedly Jorge Lorenzo, who beyond his preference for the carcass used so far, does not understand that is not left the riders latitude to opt for the carcass of theirs choice.

“From my point of view, the best thing to do would be to provide the rider with the tire he wants,” Lorenzo said. The current tire has more grip when there is a lot of angle, but complaint from some riders have led us to change tires to satisfy them, but riders who prefer the other tire should also be able to stay satisfied.” he added.
