Mick Schumacher Says Haas Doesn’t Need to Hire Experienced People

Haas  boss Gunther Steiner believes the team needs clear support from people, who are experienced at helping rookie drivers be successful.

Mick Scumahcer and teammate Nikita Mazepin have had to be content with touring round at the back of the field for most of this season, with Haas taking the decision before a wheel was turned this year to focus fully on 2022.

Speaking to media, Schumacher doesn’t think that his team needs help the experienced people on the team move up to add input would be valuable.

“Honestly, I think that we’re pretty much getting the best out of the car. I don’t think that there is a need for that. Especially if you know reserve drivers don’t really get to drive much.” Scumaher said.

“Obviously we don’t know how that would be, but again I think we’re doing the best we can, and I think some qualifyings show that we are able to extract the maximum out of the car.” Scumacher added.

Unlike Schumacher, Mazepin thinks if it’s needed for the team to develop, they need to hire experienced people that should be decided entirely by the team management.

“I have never been asked that question inside the team. I don’t think the drivers get to choose it, and I don’t think it’s correct. But if I was to be asked, I think more help in the position where we’re at now is good help. So I would be very open to any solution.” Mazepin said

“But I think Gunther is a team boss and he ultimately needs to take these decisions. Not me. I’m too young for it.” Mazepin added.

As a member of the Ferrari Driver Academy there are other options that could potentially open, Schumacher has been linked with Alfa Romeo for 2022.
