Miguel Oliveira has secured a deal to race for the works Yamaha MotoGP team’s new satellite offshoot Pramac Racing from 2025.
The news is a milestone in Oliveira’s career and reflects what appears to be some key strategic movement from Yamaha as it seeks the best competitive edge possible for its premier class lineup of MotoGP machinery.
“We are pleased to announce that a professional and experienced rider like Miguel Oliveira is joining the Yamaha line-up for 2025-26, and we bid him a warm welcome to the Yamaha MotoGP Project,” Yamaha MotoGP boss Lin Jarvis said.
Having established himself as one of the sport’s elite talents over several seasons with KTM, Oliveira is synonymous with hard riding and track provenence, having pulled off some remarkable performances for two young riders.
Having captured hearts with multiple podiums and a fighting spirit, Oliveira’s hailed move to the Yamaha-aligned Pramac team is regarded as key in his quest for MotoGP title glory.
The creation of a satellite team with Pramac Racing is one way that Yamaha decided to fight back against its rivals from Ducati and KTM.
“It’s a great privilege for me to represent such an iconic brand in our sport as Yamaha,” said Oliveira.
“Through my years of progression and arriving in MotoGP, I’ve always looked upon the blue bikes with great enthusiasm.” Oliveira added.
With the addition of Oliveira, not only does Yamaha get a very talented rider but they also have access to all the wealth and experience Pramac Racing has built over those years.
