Mikal Bridges Rules Out Breaking Former Lakers NBA Record

Mikal Bridges Rules Out Breaking Former Lakers NBA Record

Mikal Bridges is probably the brightest example of one-season wonder, as he has been remarkably consistent throughout his career.

The New York Knicks superstar has surprisingly started 474 consecutive games in the NBA, which puts him within striking distance from the record set by AC Green, the Lakers ex-forward.

However, in an interview conducted lately, Bridges was clear that as much as the record is well impressive to him, he doesn’t intend to pursue it.

“Honestly, I don’t think there’s a chance of breaking that record. I want to find out, by the way, what AC was doing at the end of his streak.” Bridges said.

“I wonder if he was on and off the court every minute, I don’t know. But I promise I won’t go that far to keep this streak going.

“For me, it’s all about just trying to play as many games as possible,” the 28-year-old winger added.

AC Green’s record involves an absurd 1,192 consecutive games played. In other words, it’s not just talk: Bridges has minimal chances of reaching the former Lakers player in this historic NBA feat.

Bridges was picked in the 2018 and he has been hot ever since. He has never been injured or lose any match since he joined the professional league.

He even had an 83-game season, which was traded during the campaign. Players have had a number of injuries during that time, but Bridges has enjoyed unwavering health.

“People ask me what the secret is, but the fact is that there is nothing like that,” Bridges said.

“I am blessed, in short. I think I have thin bones and that is why I can handle these games in a row.

“I do the recovery work and the gym part without ‘cheating’. I follow all the guidelines to prevent injuries and, really, nothing much beyond thatm.” he added.

Bridges, as much as he cherishes the string, would prefer to be an NBA champion than have it.

He has been to one NBA Finals with the Phoenix Suns but he never got to the top. So with the Knicks, he has his most credible second shot at getting back to the NBA Finals.
