Saul “Canelo” Alvarez is just over a month away from stepping back into the ring to face the Briton Billy Joe Saunders in a unifying bout for the WBA, WBC and WBO super middleweight titles. And his idea, to achieve a victory, is to go in search of Caleb Plant, owner of that belt, but of the IBF. Although, other options may appear on the Canelo path.
At least that is what the great former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson himself expects, who encouraged him to face an undefeated American champion and who is trying to find his opportunity precisely against Canelo.
A few days ago, the Mexican was Iron Mike’s guest on his Hot Boxing podcast, although he later spoke about Canelo on an Instagram live where he gave his opinion on various issues and even made a request.
Tyson asked Canelo to face undefeated champion Jermall Charlo, as it is a fight he would be interested in seeing. It should be remembered that this boxer is the current WBC middleweight champion and is looking for a fight against the Mexican.
In this sense, Tyson expressed: “I would like to see him fight with that guy (Jermall) Charlo, that will be a good fight. I don’t think he will be strong enough, but he is not afraid. I think he is intelligent and will give a good fight, until That whatever has to happen.”
On the other hand, Tyson considered Canelo as “one of the best pound for pound today,” while highlighting how important that loss he had against Floyd Mayweather Jr. in 2013 was.
“You know, he learned a lot from that fight with Money. He will continue his streak and end up retiring undefeated,” he said.
