James Milner expects other Liverpool players to improve quality so Mohamed Salah has no burden in his second season at Anfield.
Salah underwent a fantastic season in his debut season with the Reds. This Egyptian players successfully transformed into a goal machine with a total of 44 goals in all competitions that are played, including a record of 32 goals in the English Premier League so the Egyptian striker was crowned PFA and FWA player of the year.
Salah underwent his first appearance in preseason when Liverpool beat Manchester City 2-1 at the International Champions Cup on Thursday (26/7). He scored in the 63rd minute, just 52 seconds after he entered the field as a reserve player.
Milner hopes Salah, who signed a new five-year deal earlier in the summer with no release clause, could return to his best performance of the 2018/19 season.
The result made Salah start entering the category of top world players, even often compared with Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
“The best player in the world is unknown just because he’s doing great things in a season, they do it all the time.”
“It’s a mistake when a player has a good season to repeat the following season but Salah is a great player, he has shown it and he will continue to do so,” Milner said as quoted by Liverpool Echo.
Milner judge other players must also be able to help Salah for the former FC Basel players did not get an excessive burden to lift Liverpool’s performance this season.
“We must continue to improve the quality as a team and ensure all the pressure to achieve goals and get out of difficult situations not only on his shoulders,” said Milner.
Liverpool is somewhat aggressive in the movement in the transfer market. After recruiting Naby Keita, Liverpool also get Fabinho, Xherdan Shaqiri, and Alisson Becker.
The addition of these star players is believed to make Liverpool’s strength even more balanced as a team.
Liverpool’s management is being praised as they have also successfully secured Salah, Sadio Mane, and Roberto Firmino remain in their hands. Milner admitted to never worry that Salah would be tempted to offer a big club.
“I’m never worried, there will always be a rumor when a player is playing well, you can see him so happy so I do not see why he wants to get away from here,” Milner said.
