Tennis News: Milos Raonic’s powerful service is known as its flagship weapon. But that’s not what helped Raonic get to the Delray Beach Open semifinals.

Milos Raonic is a Canadian tennis player defeated home player Steve Johnson 7-6 6-3 after 1 hour and 38 minutes to advance to his first semifinal since appearing in the Stuttgart semifinals in June last season.

“You just have to find a way out. I move well and I put a lot of my return in. I do things that I can control as best as possible, “said Raonic.

“I don’t serve well enough, but the important thing is to keep fighting and I got a couple of good luck breaks and most of them were successfully utilized.”

In fact, Raonic was broken in the first game of the opening set, but he struggled to survive and at 6/6 in the tiebreaker, he shot the backhand crossing to get the chance of the second set point and converted the opportunity by shooting the forehand returns to touch the line fast enough.

Entering the second set, the second seeded player, Raonic maintained momentum and immediately broke Johnson to provide the only advantage he needed. Raonic won 63 percent points from his second service to avoid too much pressure.

Waiting for Raonic in the semifinals is Johnson’s fellow countryman, Reilly Opelka, who did not face a single break point on her way to winning 6-3, 6-4 over South Korean, Soonwoo Kwon.

“The match will be fierce. He gets a lot of points for free with his service and you have to make him move a lot. You have to find a way to play aggressively,” said Raonic.

In the only meeting between Raonic and Opelka previously at Wimbledon last season, Raonic won it in two straight sets.

Then We already know that Canadian tennis player Milos Raonic extended his unbeaten list against Denis Istomin when they met at the Delray Beach Open this week.

The second seed, Raonic lost just one point from her first serve and broke Istomin’s service on four occasions before claiming a landslide victory 6-2, 6-2 in 65 minutes.

With this victory, Raonic, who qualified for the quarterfinals of the Australian Open this season, has won all five of his meetings against Istomin in two straight sets.

“I faced a little problem in the beginning and came out of it, but I played solidly for the rest of the match. There are many positive things I can take, “said Raonic.

“People here are very interested in tennis and there are a lot of Canadians, so that makes it all the more fun.”
