Luka Modrid was brought in by Real Madrid from Tottenham Hotspurs in 2012. Even though he was doubted and considered the worst purchase, Modric became one of Madrid’s best players and the best midfielder of all time. The 2018 Ballon d’Or winner is no longer young, but in terms of quality, Modric is clearly still one of the best.
Real Madrid is clearly aware of that, but Real Madrid is also aware that regeneration must be carried out as quickly as possible. Real Madrid has indeed prepared young names for the regeneration process. Thera are names starting from Federico Valverde, Eduardo Camavinga, Aurelien Tchouameni, to Jude Bellingham and Arda Guller. These players are starting to take on important roles, starting to be trusted to take on greater responsibilities so that they are better prepared to maintain Real Madrid’s glory.
This then made Luka Modric’s playing minutes increasingly limited. Real Madrid seemed to signal that they wanted the transition to be carried out as quickly as possible. That’s right, Real Madrid is now even taking steps not to extend Modric’s contract which will end in the summer of 2024. This step will close Modric’s long journey with Real Madrid.
Modric, who defended Real Madrid for 12 years, successfully presented various titles for the club. This decision also seemed to emphasize Real Madrid’s intention to immediately carry out regeneration and allow Modric to leave the club.
Not long after this news emerged, Modric’s future became a big question. There are rumors that Modric will join Lionel Messi at Inter Miami or perhaps reunite with his former colleagues in the Saudi Pro League. Even so, Modric still has the quality to play in Europe.
This midfielder is considered appropriate as a short-term solution considering he is 38 years old. Modric himself became the first player who was able to break the dominance of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in the Ballon d’Or event. His performance with Real Madrid and his success in bringing Croatia to the 2018 World Cup final were important factors in his achievements.
For the remainder of this season, Modric will remain in the Real Madrid uniform. Of course he is determined to take the top of the standings from Girona and win the La Liga title again, at least he can provide a sweet final offering for Real Madrid.
