Mohamed Salah, Liverpool star from Egypt recently won the 2021-22 FWA Player of the Year award.
This season, Mohamed Salah has stood out from other players in the Premier League.
As a result, this makes Mohamed Salah deserving of the award.
From the start, Salah stepped on the gas right away. And now even though his goal machine has stalled, he has already scored 22 goals in the Premier League Stage.
The Egyptian striker is the current top scorer of the EPL. Not only that, Salah also topped the list of the most assisting providers in the league with a collection of 13 assists.
Interestingly, all of that was successfully inscribed by Mohamed Salah in just 31 matches.
The announcement of Mohamed Salah’s victory in the FWA Player of the Year award was announced on Friday, April 29, 2022.
But right now Salah will not receive the award in person.
He will receive the award in a special ceremony on May 5, 2022.
Not only Salah, FWA also gave the best player award to Chelsea Women striker, Sam Kerr.
“@mosalah is Player of the Year for the second time, and @samkerr1 has been voted Women’s Player of the Year. Congratulations to the @LFC and @ChelseaFCW strikers. Awards will be presented on May 5 at our annual dinner.”
There are many names that are nominated for the best player award by journalists in the UK.
Besides Mohamed Salah, there are Kevin De Bruyne and Declan Rice.
These players are selected based on a voting system. Salah got 48 percent of the vote.
While Manchester City midfielder De Bruyne is in second position and West Ham midfielder Rice is in third position.
Meanwhile, Sam Kerr also dominates in the Women’s Footballer of the Year sector. He was ahead of Arsenal’s Vivienne Miedema and Manchester City’s Lauren Hemp.
This year, specifically for the Women’s Footballer of the Year voting, all FWA members have full access to cast their votes.
Previously, voting was submitted to a panel consisting of a team of experts.
Mohamed Salah being named as FWA Player of the Year this season will feel complete if the player nicknamed The Egyptian King is able to bring Liverpool to a quadruple this season.
Will Mohamed Salah be able to? We’ll just have to wait!
