Aston Villa is delighted to announce the appointment of Monchi as new President of Football Operations.
The Spaniard has worked closely with current manager Unai Emery previously and comes with an excellent track record.
Monchi, whose real name is Ramon Rodriguez Verdejo, is widely regarded as one of the best sporting directors in European football.
“Aston Villa is delighted to announce the appointment of Ramn Rodriguez Verdejo ‘MONCHI’ as the Club’s new President of Football Operations.” Villa said in a statement.
Monchi has played a pivotal role in shaping the success of Sevilla FC, transforming them from a mid-table team to one of the most dominant squads in Spanish and European football.
“I am very happy to join Aston Villa, a great project that aims for excellence from the under-9s to the highest level, and I fully share the vision of my leaders.” Monchi said.
“I am also delighted and looking forward to working on new with Unai Emery, one of the best managers in the world of football.” Monchi added.
“Having spent so many years at Sevilla FC and winning several European trophies with my lifelong club,” Monchi said.
