Arsenal coach, Mikel Arteta, said that his team is continuing to monitor activities in the January 2024 transfer market. However, Arteta emphasized that his team’s focus now is not just on the transfer market, but on restoring Arsenal’s performance.
Arsenal’s performance is currently experiencing a decline. They had to suffer two defeats and one draw in their last three matches. So this result threw the Gunners into fourth place with a collection of 40 points.
“We are open in the transfer market, but once again the emphasis is on maximizing the players we have,” said Arteta, reported by Metro, Sunday (7/1/2024).
Arteta will talk carefully with the club because he doesn’t want to take any wrong steps in bringing in players. In fact, the Spanish coach said that it is possible that Arsenal will not spend.
“That is a possibility,” replied Arteta when asked about the possibility of Arsenal not spending on players.
“We will work with the club to understand whether there is a possibility and whether we have good options, but first focus on the players we have,” he continued.
Recently Arsenal have been linked with Brentford striker Ivan Toney. However, Brentford doesn’t seem to want to let Toney go because they are paying him a dowry of 100 million Euros.
In the midst of the opening of the 2024 winter transfer market, Arsenal’s performance is currently declining. The dullness of their front line and the weakness of their back line were the causes of this condition.
