The Indonesia Tourism Development Agency (ITDC) stated that the payment of hosting fees to Dorna sport is in the process and the Mandalika Pertamina Grand Prix MotoGP event at the Mandalika Circuit, September 27-29, 2024, is confirmed to be held, a week after the Emilia Romagna MotoGP and a week before the Japan MotoGP.
Indonesia has hosted MotoGP four times, namely in 1996 and 1997 at the Sentul Circuit, and in 2022 and 2023 at the Mandalika Circuit.
“The payment of MotoGP hosting fees is quite supportive. This means that the race is sure to continue,” said Chairman of Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia 2024 Troy Reza Warokka.
Troy said the Ministry of Youth and Sports also paid special attention to the hosting fee for the 2024 Indonesia MotoGP. In addition, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy is planned to provide support for the Indonesia MotoGP event at the Mandalika Circuit.
“We are constantly working to get the support of this hosting fee source. It can be paid before the race or after the race, there is no problem from the Dorna sport side,” said Troy.
Furthermore, Troy, who is also the Director of Operations of InJourney ITDC, also expressed his appreciation to the Central Lombok regional government for having a discourse to support the payment for free hosting of the Indonesia MotoGP event, although it has not been officially conveyed.
In addition, the preparation for the 2024 Mandalika MotoGP event has reached 95 percent and is sure to run well.
“This means that there is only 5 percent left and only execution, technically there is no problem. The MotoGP event at the Mandalika Circuit is a showcase to show Indonesia’s greatness,” said Troy.
Related, ticket sales for the 2024 Mandalika MotoGP to date have reached 45 percent of the total target audience and VIP tickets have been sold out.
“We are optimistic that ticket sales can increase ahead of the race,” he said.
