Manuel Ugarte seems impatient to leave Paris Saint-Germain. Most recently, he asked PSG management to leave so he could join Manchester United.
Man United have completed two new signings this month, as they formalized the €42.5 million move for Joshua Zirkzee last week, as well as securing a £52 million deal for centre-back Leny Yoro.
The Red Devils are trying to bring in a new central midfielder to strengthen Erik ten Hag’s squad and Ugarte has emerged as their main target.
It is understood that Man United have agreed personal terms with the Uruguay international, who wants to move to Old Trafford despite not playing in the Champions League.
A FootMercato report this week claimed that PSG are insisting on a fee of 70 million euros for Ugarte, while Man United cannot meet that figure until they release more players.
However, it is believed that the two clubs are currently at the stage of discussing the various terms of Ugarte’s transfer and they are close to completing the transfer.
According to the same report, Ugarte has also warned PSG that Man United is his first choice destination and has refused to move to another club.
Ugarte was brought in by PSG from Portuguese club Sporting last year in a deal worth 60 million euros.
The 23-year-old started 27 matches in all competitions for PSG last season, but was left on the bench by Luis Enrique in the two legs of the Champions League semi-final against Borussia Dortmund.
As is known, the Spanish coach prefers Vitinha to fill the role of central midfielder in his formation standard. This is what Ugarte indicated when asking PSG to leave.
Ugarte is currently on holiday after Uruguay reached the Copa America semi-finals earlier this month.
Manchester United are finally reportedly starting to open up other options as a replacement for Manuel Ugarte. Quickly, the Red Devils finally found the right candidate.
United are claimed to be targeting Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi. This report was reported by the Mancheter Evening News.
The report states that United is serious about bringing in the midfielder who has just led the Spanish national team to become champions of Euro 2024. They are currently monitoring Zubimendi’s situation, especially in this transfer market.
The report also states that Zubimendi has a release clause of 63 million euros. This amount is smaller than what PSG set for Manuel Ugarte.
Martin Zubimendi previously made a statement about his future. He admitted that currently he is still comfortable playing at Real Sociedad.
“Where will I play next season? I will be at Real Sociedad,” he told El Diario Vasco.
“I have a contract with Real Sociedad and that’s where I feel most comfortable,” stressed Zubimendi.
