Real Madrid defender Nacho Fernandez, confirmed the name Cristiano Ronaldo has been forgotten at Los Blancos. Ronaldo left Madrid for Juventus for a fee of € 100 million earlier this season. Nacho also considered there was no point in remembering the role of the Portuguese star player when he was at the Santiago Bernabeu.
He also stressed that Madrid could still score a lot of goals this season even without the presence of the goal machine who is now defending the Old Lady.
“At the start of the season, we scored a lot of goals. And no one remembers Cristiano Ronaldo who started with Juventus without scoring goals. People say that after he left Real Madrid, he didn’t score. In football, everything change. ”
“Cristiano has been our mainstay player. He scored 50 goals every season, but we are not one of those who are blamed and we cannot lament what happened in the past. We have to look forward with a very good squad and we are ready for everything , “Nacho was quoted as saying by the US.
The Spanish national team player also expressed his views regarding the existence of Julen Lopetegui as Madrid’s new tactician. The former La Furia Roja coach was not necessarily blamed for Los Blancos’s slump this season.
“The players will stay with the [Lopetegui] coach to death. We remain calm. We have experienced this situation even worse, but we will remain focused forward.”
“We cannot be sure you can win the title, but Madrid always shows that players and coaches continue together to fight for everything. We will stay together until the end,” he said.
Nacho also doesn’t want to bother with Los Blancos’ poor performance in the Spanish La Liga. El Real have not won a single victory in three games behind them, even two of them suffered defeat. Madrid is currently in fourth place in the eighth week.
“In this situation, we are only two points clear of the top [of the Spanish League standings]. In football, especially at Real Madrid, everything that happens is often exaggerated,” said Nacho.
“When Madrid wins or loses, it seems as if there is a crisis. When there are four matches [never won], it looks like everything is over.”
