PGL Major Copenhagen 2024 has officially ended, the tournament which was held at the Royal Arena, Denmark was the first CS2 Major event to be held. NAVI emerged as champions of PGL Major Copenhagen 2024 after defeating FaZe in the Grand Final with a score of 2-1. This is their second victory in the Major championship since their first victory at the PGL Major Stockholm in 2021. NAVI successfully became the first Major champion in the CS2 game.
NAVI started from sixth position in the Elimination Stage after successfully securing 3 wins and 2 losses, they qualified for the Playoff round after overcoming this obstacle. In the Playoff round, they managed to win over Eternal Fire with a score of 2-0, and beat G2 Esports 2-1 to secure the Grand Final round.
In the Grand Final round, NAVI was challenged by FaZe to determine who would be the winner of this first CS2 Major. The first map Ancient was a map pick from FaZe, but unexpectedly NAVI was able to stem FaZe’s strategy and execute each round well. They managed to secure victory on the Ancient map with a score of 13-9.
Moving on to the second map in Mirage, the situation is not in NAVI’s favor. FaZe shows their mentality as a superior team. They convincingly beat NAVI with a score of 13-2 considering that this map was a map pick from the NAVI team. FaZe won this second game to equalize and challenge NAVI to the third map to determine who will be champion.
In the third and deciding map at Inferno, NAVI quickly took control and built a lead in the first six rounds over FaZe. Their dominance continued and made it increasingly difficult for Faze to try to turn things around. The final result, NAVI successfully closed the Inferno map with a landslide victory of 13-3 and emerged as champions of PGL Major Copenhagen 2024.
NAVI took home the top prize of $500,000 USD and 3,500 Blast Premier Points. Meanwhile, FaZe Clan took home $170,000 USD and 2,750 Blast Premier Points for the runner-up position.
