NBA: Ian Mahinmi Explains Why He Chose the Word “Vote” on His Jersey

There are 100 days before the 2020 presidential election, and practically Washington Wizards’ Ian Mahinmi has insisted that he will have “Vote” on the back of his jersey.

According to reports, the NBA players are allowed to replace their last name on their jerseys with social justice statement.

“The Adama Traore and Floyd cases are not isolated cases. This kind of case has been happening for years. I try to focus my thoughts on solutions to resolve these issues and find common ground. On my social networks, I push a lot for the vote.” Mahinmi said.

“For me, voting, as a citizen, is the most effective way to be heard and to make a difference in my community. Particularly for me, it is not necessarily a vote in the presidential elections that counts but rather a vote in the local elections.” Mahinmi added.

The 2020 NBA season is set to restart on July 30. The NBA campaign season went on hiatus on March 11 because of the coronavirus outbreak.

“It’s going very, very well. It’s going much better than expected. Even though I didn’t have too many expectations, it’s true that I’m pleasantly surprised, after a little adjustment period the first days, in which we realize the limits. The NBA has adapted very well and has been able to offer solutions.” Mahinmi said.

“Before our arrival, we were tested over a period of 5-6 days, every day, in our respective clubs where we had resumed individual training. We entered the bubble with a two-test period. The length of this period varied between 36 and 48 hours. But everyone had to pass two negative tests to be able to resume training. So we arrived two weeks ago, on a Tuesday evening.” he added.
