Manchester United coach, Erik Ten Hag is aware that his team needs an additional three points to improve their position in the 2023-2024 Premier League standings. For this reason, Ten Hag wants all Red Devils players to look at the match against Wolverhampton Wanderers like a final match.
Because by treating the match against Wolverhampton as a final, the players will do their best to calm down the match in Week 22 of the 2023-2024 Premier League.
The Wolves – nicknamed Wolverhampton – v Man United match will be held at Molineux Stadium, on Friday 2 February 2024. Ahead of the match, Ten Hag wants his troops to go all out because this match is very important.
“We have to treat every match as a final. Every match we have to give our best and this team has a lot of experience, they know that,” said Erik Ten Hag, quoted from Manchester United’s official website, Thursday (1/2/2024).
Previously, Manchester United and Wolves had both just won in the fourth round of the 2023-2024 FA Cup. The Red Devils won 4-2 at home to the 4th division team, Newport County, while Wolves won 2-0 at the home of the 2nd division team, West Bromwich.
Now, Erik Ten Hag is confident ahead of the Wolves match because several of his players have recovered, namely Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw and Casemiro. He also believes that his team will play their best because they have learned from the past few matches.
“I am quite confident that now we have got our players back, although some players need playing minutes and match rhythm,” explained Erik Ten Hag.
“But I think the flow of the game is good. We had friendly matches (closed door), FA Cup matches, and now we are entering the Premier League matches, so the preparation for the players is (good),” he added.
In the Premier League standings this season, Manchester United is three points ahead of Wolves. Segan Merah is in ninth place with a collection of 32 points, while Wolves are in 11th position. Therefore, Ten Hag is determined to bring the Red Devils through to the top flight.
“We now have to take the next step as a team and also help some individuals return to their best performance,” he concluded.
