The Malaysia MotoGP has been officially canceled and the following is a new MotoGP schedule for the rest of the 2021 season.
Dorna Sport, the organizer of the 2021 MotoGP, officially announced that the Malaysia Grand Prix at the Sepang Circuit on October 24 was cancelled. The Malaysia MotoGP had to be canceled because the current Covid-19 case in Kuala Lumpur was high. As a result, the government has made a quarantine policy for foreigners, including the riders who will appear in the 2021 MotoGP.
Instead, Dorna together with the FIM and IRTA decided that the 16th series race would take place at the Italian Marco Simoncelli Circuit. This MotoGP series has not yet been given a title but will be held on October 24, 2021.
“The FIM, IRTA and Dorna Sports regret to announce the cancellation of the Malaysian MotoGP, which will take place at the Sepang International Circuit from 22 to 24 October,” said the official MotoGP release on Thursday (19/8).
MotoGP will again be held at the Marco Simoncelli Circuit from 22 to 24 October, on the weekend scheduled for the Malaysia GP, being the second Grand Prix at a classic Italian track.
With this, in the 2021 season there will be no races in Asia because previously the Japanese MotoGP and Thai MotoGP have also withdrawn from the calendar.
The following is the complete 2021 MotoGP schedule remaining after the Malaysia GP was officially cancelled:
British MotoGP: 29 August
MotoGP Aragon: 12 September
MotoGP San Marino: 19 September
United States MotoGP: October 3rd
New Series at Misano: October 24
MotoGP Algarve: November 7
Valencia MotoGP: November 14
MotoGP Argentina: Official date yet to be released
Valentino Rossi certainly can’t say goodbye to his fans in Asia in line with the cancellation of the Malaysian MotoGP. The certainty of the cancellation of the three series also made Rossi officially unable to say goodbye directly to his fans in the Asian region. MotoGP 2021 itself is Rossi’s last season in the MotoGP event.
At the Austrian MotoGP race, Rossi received a big welcome from the fans on the circuit. Rossi also responded to the warm welcome and farewell with enthusiasm.
Valentino Rossi decided to retire at the end of the 2021 MotoGP season. The inability of ‘The Doctor’ to appear competitive this season was the main reason for this decision.
“I decided to stop at the end of this season. This is a very sad moment, it is not easy to know I will not race in MotoGP next year,” Rossi said in a press conference session.
Rossi is currently in 19th position in the 2021 MotoGP standings. Rossi has only collected 28 points and finished eighth in the Austrian MotoGP is Rossi’s best record this season.
