Newcastle United continues to be in the spotlight after being officially held by a consortium company from Saudi Arabia, the Public Investment Fund (PIF). Seeing that Newcastle have now become a wealthy club, Manchester United legend, Rio Ferdinand, also suggested the club to bring in star players, ranging from Raheem Sterling to Declan Rice.
As is known, Newcastle’s status has now changed drastically because it has become the richest club in Europe. Because they were recently acquired by a company owned by the Prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohamed bin Salman, namely PIF.
Then, it is estimated that The Magpies-Newcastle United’s nickname is predicted to overhaul their squad and bring in several top players. So far, there have been several names that have been linked by Newcastle.
Man United legend, Rio Ferdinand, suggested several names to be brought in as players for The Magpies, as well as starting their new era. However, the player seems no stranger to the Premier League.
Furthermore, Ferdinand explained that so far there are two names of players who are very likely to be recruited by Newcastle. They are Sterling and Declan Rice. Even so, Ferdinand also did not escape adding the option of Man United midfielder, Jesse Lingard, as a third player.
“I would look at people like Raheem Sterling. Raheem Sterling is not playing regularly, I will approach him. I would also go and ask Declan Rice, ‘What happened?’
“They will both be the first two on my list, and I will try my best to get them. And then, I will try to get people like Jesse Lingard, who are in and around the Man United squad.”
Newcastle is also being linked with a star player from France, namely Kylian Mbappe. However, Ferdinand said that the Paris Saint Germain (PSG) striker was unlikely to be willing to leave for Saint James Park.
“(Kylian Mbappe)) is just a dream, but there are people who will be around the Man United squad, the Chelsea squad, the Man City squad. I would see a player like that, I would like that type of player,” Ferdinand explained.
In addition to new players, Newcastle have also been linked with a new coach. Names such as Antonio Conte to Frank Lampard are now being linked to the wealthy club.
