The 2019 season’s transfer window is full of dramatic stories. One of them was a transaction involving Barcelona, Neymar and PSG which ended in a no deal. Barcelona who seem determined to sign Neymar back from PSG must accept the fate. Even Barcelona is rumored to barter a number of players plus money just to get Neymar’s services back.
Neymar himself welcomed that intention with open arms. In fact, several times on social media, Neymar stated his emotional closeness with the club he had defended (2013-2017) and some Barca players such as Messi and Luis Suarez.
Meanwhile, PSG is not willing to let Neymar leave. The club got it from Barca by breaking the record transfer in 2017 at a price of 222 million Euros. Certainly PSG wants the high price to receive similar compensation. Because of the insistence of each club, the transfer did not lead to a final agreement. The climax of this drama is that Neymar continues to play with PSG this season.
This drama also triggers various impressions. Not a few Barca fans are disappointed with the management steps which are considered not too nimble in bringing Neymar. Neymar is considered a solution for Barca when the team star, Lionel Messi is not in top condition on the gridiron.
On the other hand, PSG fans were also disappointed because of Neymar’s attitude, which he considered to be ignorant in the transaction process between PSG and Barcelona. Even on one occasion when Neymar was in the transaction process between Barca and PSG, Neymar considered the “come back” match against PSG in the champions league in 2017 was the game he remembered the most while still in Barcelona.
Of course, this has really hurt the hearts of PSG fans. The fans rate Neymar’s expression as a sign of lack of respect for the club that he defends.
A quite dramatic transaction between Barcelona and PSG did not find a common ground. Neymar will stay at PSG this season, 2019-2020. Therefore, inevitably Neymar must defend PSG.
Of the four matches, Neymar was the winner of PSG in three matches. Interestingly from three matches, Neymar’s single goal was the decisive victory for PSG.
Although some PSG fans mocked Neymar for his attitude during the transfer period, Neymar still gave the best for PSG fans. Even his single goal at home to Bordeaux managed to deliver PSG to victory and put PSG in the first position of the French league by collecting 18 points.
After the match against Bordeaux, Neymar made quite a tickling comment about fans who were still cheating him on the gridiron. Responding to the situation, Neymar only said that his relationship with the fans of his club, PSG is similar to a relationship with a girlfriend. That relationship involves a lot of love and challenges. In time everything will return to normal.
Neymar may be hated by some fans because of his attitude in the last transfer season. But seeing his performance in three matches with PSG in Ligue 1, the French league, Neymar’s action must be respected and thumbs up.
Maybe for the time being in the eyes of PSG fans, Neymar is still rated as a figure who must be hated for his intentions and attitudes who want to return to Barcelona.
But watching his performance so far with PSG, the fans might change their minds. Maybe for a while the fans are reluctant to like Neymar again.
There are times when fans like Neymar especially when he can inspire PSG to win various titles not only Ligue 1, the French league but more than that of the Champions League. Well, the champions league trophy was one of the reasons PSG recruited Neymar two seasons ago.
Hopefully Neymar’s action can bring PSG fans’ love back to Neymar’s heart.
