Neymar Hattrick, Brazil Beat Peru 4-2

The Brazilian national team defeated the Peruvian national team 4-2 in the 2022 World Cup qualifier for the South American zone at the National Stadium, Lima, Peru, Wednesday (14/10).

Brazil, who acted as the visitors, fell behind in this match first. The hosts managed to lead 1-0 thanks to goals from Andre Carrillo when the game has been running for six minutes.

Carrillo’s hard kick from outside the penalty box nested into the left corner of the goal without being able to anticipate by the Brazilian goalkeeper, Weverton.

Brazil, who is trying to find a new equalizer, can break into Peru’s goal in the 28th minute. This happened after Yoshimar Yotun violated Neymar in the penalty box.

Neymar executed the penalty himself. The Paris Saint-Germain star managed to unleash a shot that tricked Pedro Gallese.

Score 1-1 draw makes the match tension even higher. Opportunity after opportunity can be created by both teams.

Peru have had chances through Luis Advincula and Renato Tapia but have yet to produce a goal. Brazil also had a chance through Roberto Firmino but his header from Renan Lodi’s cross was still sideways in the Peru goal.

In the second half, Peru won for the second time in this match. The host’s goal came back through a shot from outside the penalty box.

This time it was Tapia’s turn to break into Weverton’s goal in the 59th minute. Tapia’s hard kick shook the Brazilian goal to make it 2-1.

Peruvian prominence did not last long. Five minutes later, Tite’s squad made it 2-2 through a goal scored by Richarlison.

Richarlison finished Roberto Firmino’s pass with a right-footed shot from close range.

Peru and Brazil are both looking to score goals in the remaining matches. However, it was Brazil who could take advantage of the opportunity after Neymar was again fouled in the penalty box.

Neymar came back as the executor and his shot broke into the Peru goal.

In injury time, Neymar scored his third goal in this match against Peru, who played with nine men after Carlos Caceda and Carlos Zambrano were sent off. Neymar’s shot from close range again found Gallese’s goal.

This result made Brazil continue their winning trend. In the previous match, the Selecao won 5-0 over Bolivia.

Neymar managed to get past Ronaldo de Lima’s goal in the list of top scorers in the Brazilian national team.

The additional three goals made Neymar score 64 goals for the Brazilian national team. He is two goals ahead of the Phenomenon Ronaldo who has now dropped to third place with 62 goals.

Neymar has now only lost to Pele. The living legend of the Brazilian national team still holds the record for the all-time top scorer with a collection of 77 goals.

Neymar only needs 18 more goals to cross Pele’s record. The opportunity for Neymar to shift Pele is wide open because he is only 28 years old.

Neymar still has a few years left to get past Pele’s record goalscoring. With a note, Neymar can avoid injuries that have often made him absent from matches in recent years.
