Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar refused to talk about his teammate Kylian Mbappe and instead focused on the team’s good start to the 2022/23 season.
Neymar’s relationship with Mbappe is understood to have become strained since Lionel Messi arrived in Paris last year.
Both players have been teammates at PSG since 2017, and there have often been reports of the two not seeing eye-to-eye, such as who takes the penalty kicks.
“I am playing football and physically well. That helps me a lot. My problem was never on the pitch, but some injuries that got in the way. When I’m 100% whole and happy playing my football, it’s difficult for opponents,” Neymar said.
“I told them in training that web are a team that is seen as offensive, with four forwards and Paqueta. I told them that if we want to play like this, one has to help the other. Nobody has any vanity here, it’s a team without vanity, with harmony.” Neymar added.
Neymar was becoming the most expensive footballer of all time when he moved from Catalan club Barcelona to PSG for €222million in 2017.
When asked about his fellow Vinicius Junior, Neymar admitted he has a fantastic relationship with the Real Madrid superstar
‘He is a friend that I have outside the four lines. I’m really rooting for him, as it was in the Champions League final,” Neymar said.
“I was rooting for him to score, to feel the taste of winning the Champions League final. I’m very happy with what he’s doing and our friendship is growing.” Neymar added.
Neymar has scored 11 goals and 10 assists in 14 appearances for PSG on this season. He helped PSG won the Ligue 1 title last season with 86 points.
