Paris Saint-Germain striker, Neymar, on Thursday has returned to the pitch and trained with squad after going through a recovery period away from the gym.
The Brazilian forward suffered the ligament injury during PSG’s victory at Saint-Etienne in November, with club doctors ruling him out for six to eight weeks.
“Neymar has today started running again and is now beginning the reconditioning phase on the pitch,” PSG’s medical team said in a statement.
Out of action since November, Neymar should be available for the match against Real Madrid, in the round of 16 of the Champions League.
Neymar has not played in the last games with the Brazilian team to focus on recovery. The player is expected to play a few minutes against Rennes next week to gain pace in the game.
“I have a strong head now and I’ve had to work very hard to get it that way and I think that that is the other really good thing about me, that not only can I play football but I’ve focused on my mental health.” Neymar said.
“Family and friends are important, but my teammates are too. They’re always behind me so that when I have a sad day they can help with a word or a hug to make me feel better.” he added.
Meanwhile Sergio Ramos is still in doubt to take place in Champions League vs. former his club. The defender has not evolved in the recovery of the muscle injury in the calf and has no return forecast.
“Sergio Ramos has to rest for a low-grade muscle injury in his right calf that occurred on Thursday during training and will be reassessed in the middle of the week,” read PSG’s statement.
PSG moved for Ramos last summer when it was confirmed that the Spain international would not be renewing his contract at Madrid.
Marquinhos, Achraf Hakimi and Angel Di Maria, who defended their respective teams in recent days, are already back at the French club.
