The Denver Nuggets were stunned in Friday’s round with a loss to the San Antonio Spurs. But, for the first time in the NBA season, the Colorado team was not victorious while Nikola Jokic scored a triple-double. The star, after all, scored 37 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists, but his team was defeated.
It was Jokic’s 26th triple-double of the current NBA season. In all the other 25 matches he managed the combo, he came away with the win.
The Spurs, therefore, ended the Nuggets’ great streak under the command of their main player.
Another shockng thing about the match was the Serb’s volume in the three-point balls. In all, the playmaker shot six times from the perimeter and converted four of them. As a result, Jokic has a career-best long shot percentage of 41.1%.
It’s important to keep in mind that the leading contender for the MVP award in 2022–2023 became one of only six players in league history to record more than 100 triple-doubles.
The feat took place on the 28th of February. On the occasion, the Nuggets beat the Houston Rockets with a great night from the star.
Jokic now adds 17 triple-doubles in the last 24 games played and already 26 throughout the season.
Jokic walks in strides to be named the best player in the NBA for the third consecutive time. That’s because, in addition to their individual performance, Dever’s team leads the Western Conference easily.
The loss to the Spurs, then, did not jeopardize the Nuggets’ great campaign. This, by the way, even being the second setback in a row, since on Wednesday, he was also defeated by the Chicago Bulls. Currently, Michael Malone’s team has 46 wins in 67 games.
