Tennis News: Former Serbian Ana Ivanovic believes that world number 1 Novak Djokovic is able to break Roger Federer’s record as the man with the most Grand Slam titles.

The 38-year-old Federer has won 20 Grand Slam titles, but he has not won another Grand Slam since beating Marin Cilic in the 2018 Australian Open final.

Rafael Nadal came in second with 19 Grand Slam titles and Djokovic in third with 17 Grand Slam titles. On several occasions, Djokovic admitted that one of his targets was to break Federer’s two records, including the Grand Slam title.

Former world number 1 tennis player, Ivanovic talked with former world number 7 tennis player, Barbara Schett via Instagram.

When asked whether Djokovic could break Federer’s record, Ivanovic replied, “Yes. Maybe. He (Djokovic) still has a few seasons left and he certainly has a great chance to do it, and that is one of his targets. “

33-year-old Djokovic won the only Grand Slam so far in the 2020 season when he defeated Dominic Thiem in the final of the Australian Open.

Meanwhile, Djokovic and Ivanovic achieved considerable success early in their careers. Djokovic claimed the first Grand Slam title in his career at the 2008 Australian Open season, while Ivanovic won the first Grand Slam title in his career a few months after that at the French Open.

“In the tournament, we were very close friends. But a few years later, he went through his career, and so did I. But what he has achieved is truly amazing, “said Ivanovic.

Ivanovic hasn’t won a Grand Slam title yet, but he finished his career in the tennis world with 15 titles. He retired in the 2016 season at a fairly young age after he admitted that he could no longer perform at the highest level as one of the main reasons for his decision.

Previously Novak Djokovic described the strict health rules, conditions under which the US Open would seem to be held, as extreme and impossible.

Along with growing doubts about whether the Grand Slam can be held or not as planned in New York, the city that is the epicenter of the spread of COVID-19 in the US, Djokovic acknowledged that the organizer’s request could cause heavy pressure.
