Oakley, a brand specialised in sports performance glasses for cycling and road running, presented a new collection of eyewear inspired by surfboard designers.
“For decades, Oakley has been designing the best performance eyewear on planet Earth, but never in our history have we created something special with runners and for runners. And for that, runners of this world, we apologize,” Caio Amato, Oakley Global Head of Marketing said.
“We spent countless hours discussing with runners and then we built on almost half a century of innovation to develop new sunglasses that – we hope – soon all runners will call their new running essentials.
“It was incredibly fun outsmarting the sun together with that community.” he added.
Named Dehaven, the main star of the new line won a campaign that has Japanese surfer Kanoa Igarashi, silver at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, as the protagonist.
In the campaign, Oakley highlights the craftsmanship and meticulous work, full of details and proportions applied in the creation of surfboards.
However, it emphasises the fact that it does not just manufacture sunglasses, a segment that made the brand a world power in the market.
According to Oakley, the Dehaven features a lightweight NanO-Matter front frame, completed by stainless steel rods that feature a cross-hatched detail, meant to be reminiscent of the way longboarders waxed their boards before going out in search of the perfect wave.
With Unobtainium temple tips, the Dehaven is also designed to increase grip and help keep the glasses in place no matter what the owner decides to do.
The model even gained Oakley Authentic Prescription lenses, which are proposed with the iconic laser-engraved ellipse-shaped logo, to prove the quality and authenticity of the object.
According to Oakley, the entire collection, which also includes the HSTN RX, Plazlink, Trajectory, Exchange and Futurity models, is already on sale in stores and also on the brand’s website.
Dehaven, the main star of the new line, has some colors available and retails for USD134.
