Odion Ighalo is a player who has proved as a good striker when he played for Manchester United before Premier League was suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The 30-year-old striker, who signed for United from Chinese club Shanghai Greenland Shenhua on loan at the of the January 2020 transfer window has scored 4 goals and 4 assists in eights games in all competitions so far.
“When I moved to United. I learned a few things from manager. During the games there was even a game I scored,” Ighalo said.
“I would like to finish the season if it’s possible. I was in good form, good shape, scoring goals and now we’ve stopped now for over a month. I’ve given it my best and hopefully we’ll come back to play.
“The team had a good momentum before the pandemic started. At the moment I’m on loan, and this will cut short my time at the club.” Ighalo added.
Odion came at a time when United needed a player to replace the injured Marcus Rashford, and he will deliver the goods in due time.
The Nigerian striker has good Premier League experience and a conventional goal scorer as well, but some people believe he is not a long run option for United.
According to reports, Shenhua want their player back in time for the start of the Chinese League campaign in July. While United will look to add a quality to their fragile front line later this summer, but Ighalo will not be considered at all.
“The club, myself, every footballer is going through a lot because we can’t do what we love and what we know how to do best,” Ighalo said.
“So we’re just thinking about that for now and to finish the season before we start thinking about the contract. I just want everyone to be safe and see what the future holds.” he added.
