Through their official website, FC Barcelona officially announced that they will not use Xavi’s services in the upcoming 2024/2025 season.
“This Friday, FC Barcelona President Joan Laporta has informed Xavi Hernandez that he will not be our first team coach in the upcoming 2024/25 season,” said Barcelona’s official statement.
“FC Barcelona thanks Xavi for his work as our coach as well as his career as a player and club captain. We wish him great success in his future career.”
Barcelona also announced that Xavi will still be on duty at the weekend.
Barcelona is scheduled to visit Andalusia. They will challenge Sevilla in the final match of the 2023/2024 La Liga season.
This match will be Xavi’s last match as Barcelona manager before he is relieved of his duties.
Previously there were rumors emerging regarding candidates to replace Xavi. One of the names that emerged was the former coach of Bayern Munich and the German national team, Hansi Flick.
Barcelona seems to prefer to appoint Flick as Xavi’s replacement. This rumor was then further strengthened by news from Fabrizio Romano.
