Oleksandr Usyk has said he’s ready to give a help to Anthony Joshua who has no coach after long-time coach Rob McCracken says goodbye.
For the first Usyk fight, Joshua worked with long-time head trainer McCracken, alongside assistant coaches Angel Fernandez and Joby Clayton. He is yet to confirm his new team for the rematch, but only Fernandez has featured in recent social media footage.
“I don’t think or care about what Joshua is doing. I don’t care if he changes the training apparatus. I only care about the coaching staff his coach, not Joshua’s preparation. In the next 5 years when I retire, if he is still looking for a new coach, I can help him form his own team.” Usyk said.
Joshua was outclassed by Usyk at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last September, losing his world heavyweight titles on a hugely difficult night. The Briton is set for a pivotal heavyweight rematch against Usyk in the summer.
On the other hand, Usyk has called out the WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury. Both fighters will likely meet in a bout to crown the first undisputed heavyweight king since 2000 later this year.
However, the negotiations reached a dead end and insiders began to blame each other. Fury said that Usyk deliberately avoided the fight with him, but the 35-year-old puncher immediately denied it.
“Fury is lying, I have never ducked anybody. In my entire career, I have never yielded to anyone.” Usyk said.
“If he wants I can fight him right now, with bare knuckles in the street. Even when we had to go to Moscow, to Russia, the situation between the countries was very tight.” Usyk added.
Fury has been ordered by the WBC to defend his belt against Dillian Whyte. The Gypsy King is the WBC heavyweight world champion.
