Mike Tyson has announced his return to the ring couple weeks ago. As we can see in a video posted on Instagram the American is preparing his return with enthusiasm.
At 53, Tyson is in good shape and determined to return in a very short time. He notably shares with his fans extracts from his training, proof of his motivation and tenacity.
Like Tyson, Oscar de La Hoya said he’s seriously considering making a comeback and he wanted a real fight against big names out there.
Although De la Hoya has announced that he wants to restart fighting, his decision has not yet been made. First he wants to see what his colleagues Tyson and Evander Holyfield will do. Even if the 47-year-old boxer keeps in shape thanks to weekly training, he does not yet feel able to hold 12 rounds.
“I actually want to see what Tyson does first. I have been working out, I have been training, I have been staying in shape.” De La Hoya said.
“Obviously, I’m not in fighting shape yet to go 12 rounds. I’m sure I could get there. We’ll see. I want to see Tyson perform, see how his reflexes are, see if he can go past three or four rounds. We’ll see and then I’ll make my decision.” De La Hoya added.
The “Golden Boy” during his career, earned gold medal at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. He is also the first boxer in history to have become world champion in six different weight categories.
Unlike Tyson, Oscar de la Hoya insisted to face current boxers. He would then be back in the middleweight. But it does not matter for this passionate avid to fight again in a ring.
There are many big names out there: the WBA and WBC champion Saul Alvarez, the IBF champion Gennady Golovkin and the WBO champion Demetrius Andrade. It also would be former middleweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Back on May 6, 2007, Mayweather won split decision and captured WBC title over De La Hoya. That was a super richest middleweight bout in history.
