Pacquiao still wants Mayweather rematch

Manny Pacquiao (61-7-2, 39 KOs) retained his WBA world welterweight title with a convincing unanimous points win over American Adrian Broner at the MGM Grand , in Las Vegas, last weekend.

He dominated his American opponent, who is 11 years his junior, connecting with more than twice as many punches.

However, afterwards the Filipino is recovering from an injury to the left eye during his fight against Broner. He suffered a minor scratch of the cornea was reassured about it. He is happily on the path of healing.

In fact, the 40-year-old boxer is no longer wearing his eye patch and he is already able to attend Monday Night of the NBA game between the Golden State Warriors and the Los Angeles Lakers at Staples Center.

“At the age of 40, I mean the strategy, the training routine is the same. But we make a little adjustment for our preparation, especially body recovery,” Pacquiao said.

“I’m not young anymore so of sometimes I push sometimes, I cannot recover in one night, so I have to take time in rest and make my body recover.” he added.

However, Pacquiao confirmed that he will continue to fight, even though he has obligations as Senator, in his homeland, the Philippines.

“I’m going to ask my promoter who will be my next rival and then we’ll make the announcement at the appropriate time,” Pacquiao said.

The “Pacman” wants Floyd Mayweather to come out of retirement for big-money rematch. But his company CEO, Leonard Ellerbe, said the “Money” is not looking to return to the ring.

“Tell him to come back to the ring and we will fight. I am willing to fight with Floyd Mayweather if he is willing to come back to box.” Pacquiao said.

“I’m still active and if he goes back to the ring and wants to challenge me, Im a champion. Get back to the ring and we will fight again if he wants.

“I just want to keep fighting the best. If Floyd Mayweather canot fight at my level, then stayed retired. Pacquiao added.

Former five-weight world champion Mayweather, who was in the crowd, gave no reaction when asked if the rematch could happen.

The 41-year-old beat Japanese kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa in an exhibition boxing bout in December but has previously said he is still retired.
