The casino industry is one of the most popular industries all across the globe and everywhere casino operators are trying their level best to attract new customers to their casinos. For this, they are trying new schemes, promotions and even offering amazing prizes and discounts. In a recent move, The Macau government authorised casino operator Sands China Ltd to operate a total of 100 new to market live dealer gaming tables on the opening of its US$2.7 billion Parisian Macao property in Cotai. This announcement was made by Macau’s Secretary for Economy and Finance, Lionel Leong Vai Tac, on Saturday, in comments to reporters. As quoted by Mr. Leong these new tables are only for the mass market segment. As per the government official release, Sand China would be granted an additional 50 new to market tables in two different phases. 25 tables on January 1, 2017, and the remaining 25 on January 1, 2018.
Leong said the government’s decision “was based on trying to stay within the confines of the 3 percent annual growth of table games.” The government of Macau has issued a total of 445 tables in 2015 and has already issued 100 in 2016.
Leong further added,
Parisian Macao’s allocation didn’t come as a surprise to analysts who forecast that the soon-to-open integrated resort will get the same number of tables as Wynn Palace “based on its family-style non-gaming offerings.”
Union Gaming analyst Grant Govertsen said in a note:
“The government explained that the properties that opened in 2015 got 250 tables because they had a greater focus on family entertainment and non-gaming offerings, and a nod to the local community with on-property support for SMEs (small and medium-sized enterprises). Based on these criteria, and what we knew about Parisian, we had assumed that Parisian was likely to check all of these boxes (although the level of SME support at Parisian is an unknown, it clearly brings lots of non-gaming and family-style attractions).”
The Parisian Macao which is to open on September 12 was additionally authorised to install 1,600 new slot machines on its casino floor according to a government release. Sands China has already stated that Parisian had a capacity for up to 450 gaming tables.
Even Rival operator Wynn Macau was also given a total of 150 new to market tables to be allocated in three stages when it opened the US$2.4 billion Wynn Palace casino resort on August 22. The company even made an announcement earlier that they had space for 500 tables.
