General Chairman of the Indonesian Football Association, Erick Thohir, revealed that Indonesian National Team coach Patrick Kluivert will add another assistant coach from the Netherlands.
Patrick Kluivert has been officially appointed by the Indonesian Football Association as the new coach of the Indonesian National Team.
The Indonesian Football Association previously announced that Patrick Kluivert would be accompanied by two Dutch assistant coaches, namely Denny Landzaat and Alex Pastoor as well as two local assistant coaches.
The Kluivert assistant who will be recruited will not only help in the Indonesian senior national team, but will also be a liaison to align the program as well as the vision and mission between the senior national team and the Indonesian U-23, U-20 and U-17 national teams.
“Patrick will be added from the Netherlands, an assistant for synchronizing U-17, U-20 and U-23,” said Erick Thohir.
Apart from the Dutch assistant coach, the Indonesian Football Association also confirmed that two local coaches will be Kluivert’s assistants in the senior Indonesian national team.
To determine the names of two local assistant coaches who will accompany Kluivert, the Indonesian Football Association will conduct a screening first.
“Later, if we have a large database, we will try to select with a team of experts. We might get 10, out of 10, we will propose to Patrick Kluivert and the team to be able to determine the two assistant coaches of their choice,” said Erick.
According to Erick, this program is very positive for improving the quality of local coaches.
“We want there to be a transfer of knowledge, we also cannot afford not to give maximum opportunities to our local coaches, that’s why if we look at the U-17 National Team there is coach Nova Arianto, in the U-20 National Team there is coach Indra Sjafri, that’s our part to also encourage the program ,” said Erick.
The Indonesian national team still has four more matches in Group C of the third round of the 2026 World Cup Qualifications.
Indonesia will play an away match against Australia on March 20 2025. Five days later, Indonesia will host Bahrain at home on March 25 2025.
