Patrick Maroon Announces to Retire at The End of 2024-2025 Season

St. Louis Blues left wing Patrick Maroon has announced that he will retire when the 2024-2025 season ends.

“It’s tough. Sometimes you got to give up everything you know and everything you dreamed of your whole life. I just know it’s time for me and it’s time for my family to start a new chapter in our lives,” Maroon said.

“To get to have a special moment tonight and be in St. Louis, I won a Stanley Cup here. I’m just going to finish this year as every game is going to be my last game.” Maroon added.

Maroon became a hero in St. Louis by scoring a very famous and unforgettable goal for the Blues.

This big moment happened during a crucial Game 7 against the Dallas Stars in the second round of the 2019 playoffs.

The 36-year-old man scored an important goal in double overtime, which led the Blues to win that series.

His incredible achievement played a key role in helping the Blues secure their first and only Stanley Cup victory in the team’s history, making it an unforgettable moment for fans.

Maroon had a long career spanning 14 seasons, during which he played over 800 games for eight different teams. He managed to score 125 goals and collect 320 points.

A significant part of his career, around 11 seasons, was spent with teams like the Lightning, Anaheim Ducks, and Edmonton Oilers.

Known for his strength and toughness on the ice, Maroon regularly averaged about 155 hits each full season, reinforcing his reputation as a physical forward.

Maroon, meanwhile, expressed his commitment to playing hard. He said he gives his all during the game and that every time he steps onto the ice, he treats it like it could be his last chance to play.

However, Maroon is determined to maintain this level of effort throughout the rest of the season.
