Manchester United have had an excellent start to the season and Jose Mourinho’s summer signings have settled in well – Express Sport brings you the latest news from Old Trafford. Paul Pogba is facing up to six weeks out for Manchester United after having scans on his hamstring injury on Wednesday. The France international was forced off in the first half of United’s 3-0 win over Basel in the Champions League on Tuesday evening.
The initial tests on his injury have indicated that he will be sidelined between four to six weeks, but the midfielder is set to have more scans on Thursday. On Wednesday evening, Pogba spoke for the first time since his setback, claiming that ‘all will be fine’ in his Instagram post. Pogba is now set to miss United’s Premier League fixtures against Everton, Southampton and Crystal Palace, the Carabao Cup tie against Burton on September 20 and the match against CSKA Moscow in the Champions League on September 27. The £89 million signing from Juventus will also be absent for United’s clash with Liverpool at Anfield on October 14.
Jesse Lingard has told Premier League defences Marcus Rashford will only get stronger. The 19-year-old scored on his Champions League debut on Tuesday in the 3-0 win over Basel. Jose Mourinho revealed during pre-season that Ashford had shot up in height and Lingered thinks defences home and abroad won’t be able to rest easy. “He’s got a lot bigger, a lot quicker, and he’s focusing on goals and assists which is the main aim,” Lingard said.
“If he can carry this form on now the rest of the season it will help us a lot. He’s going to stay grounded because he’s a grounded kid.” Rio Ferdinand has aimed a small dig at Arsenal and Liverpool, claiming Manchester United have won more titles, because they don’t chop and change goalkeepers. The BT Sport pundit insists United regularly collected titles, because they knew which keeper they would be playing week in week out.“You have got to build relationships with the players on the pitch,” Ferdinand told BT Sport.”Two centre-halves and the goalkeeper, that’s a triangle. “You can’t get that chopping and changing. You need to play games consistently.”
Paul Pogba is set to spend up to a month on the sidelines for Manchester United, according to reports. Pogba came off in last night’s 3-0 win over Basel in the Champions League with a hamstring injury. The Frenchman looked in some discomfort as he was replaced in the first half of the game by Marouane Fellaini at Old Trafford. Pogba was already set to miss United’s next Premier League game at home to Everton on Sunday (1:30pm). And now according to BBC Sport, Pogba could be out for as long as six weeks.
