Pep Guardiola Still Considers Liverpool the Toughest Competitor in the EPL

Pep Guardiola, Manchester City’s tactician apparently still considers Liverpool as City’s toughest competitor this season.

What is Pep Guardiola’s statement like? Check out the summary of SportReviews below.

Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola refuses to be influenced by the slump Liverpool is experiencing in the English Premier League this season.

The Spanish coach also still considers the Reds as the toughest competitors.

Especially in the competition for the English Premier League title.

Manchester City is the only team that is unbeaten in the Premier League this season.

Currently, City is in second place with 23 points and is one strip behind Arsenal with a collection of 24 points.

At least in the last four seasons of the English Premier League, Liverpool and Manchester City have been involved in fierce competition for the throne in three seasons of competition.

In the 2018/2019 season, City were only one point ahead of Liverpool when they won the English Premier League title.

In the following season, it was the turn of the Reds who were able to appear dominant and ended the English Premier League at the top of the final standings by leaving The Citizens in second place.

The fierce competition between the two teams was also presented last season, when The Citizens ensured the achievement of the English Premier League title with a one-point advantage over the Reds.

Even so, the journey of the two clubs this season is so much different.

Now, the Reds actually slumped in tenth place because they were only able to pick two wins from eight matches.

In fact, in the last three matches in the English Premier League, the team made by Jurgen Klopp has never won.

After being held to a draw by Everton and Brighton and Hove Albion, Liverpool gave up, 2-3, from Arsenal last weekend.

However, conditions do not necessarily affect Guardiola’s assessment of the ability of the Reds.

“Liverpool will always be our toughest competitors in this competition, and so will this season. Anything can still happen, especially with the competition pause due to the World Cup. Liverpool is a strong team,” said Guardiola, summarized SportReviews from the Sky Sports page.

Armed with a 1-7 win at Rangers headquarters, The Citizens must be vigilant when visiting Liverpool headquarters in the 11th week of the English Premier League.

The Liverpool vs Manchester City match will be held on Sunday (16/10).

With the slump being experienced by the Reds, this match is the best opportunity for The Citizens to improve their record of meetings with Liverpool, which has never been in the last four clashes in all competitions.

“I don’t care if they are in good shape or in a slump. With the quality of the players they have, the game against Liverpool is always an important game for us.”
