Pol Espargaro will join his second year with the Repsol Honda Team in MotoGP 2022. After a difficult debut season for the Japanese engine manufacturer, the new Honda RC213V seems to suit Espargaro much better and significantly better results are expected.
“I am going into this season with more experience and that is ultimately one of the most important things in MotoGP.” Espargaro said.
“We’ve only had five days of testing, but it’s very important to know what the team is like, what the bike is like and what I’m going to find there. That is already something very important, something very big.” Espargaro added.
The new Honda machine is definitely going to help its riders. This one is more focused on the rear and that’s what Espargaro wanted.
“We know that we will make further improvements during the year with a new engine, but I think the starting point is good.” Espargaro said.
“I think from Qatar we will be ready to fight for good results, that is our goal. Now we will continue working in Indonesia in the coming days.” he added.
After the first two official test days of 2022 were held last weekend at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia, the next three test days are already around the door.
From Friday to Sunday, all MotoGP riders and teams will compete at the brand new Pertamina Mandalika International Street Circuit, located on the island of Lombok in Indonesia.
There are the final days of testing before the new MotoGP season kicks off on the weekend of March 4-6 at the Losail International Circuit in Qatar.
“This year I think we are in a much better position with the new machine. The concept is completely new, everyone on my side of the pit box is very motivated and hopefully we will be ready when the season starts in Qatar.” Espargaro said.
