Portugal national team superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo feels not calm, even though his team has just bulldozed Switzerland four goals without reply. The Manchester United striker insisted that the competition had just started and it was too early to be complacent at this point.
As is known, the Portugal national team won 4-0 victory over Switzerland in the second match of Group A2 of the 2022-2023 UEFA Nations League at the Jose Alvalade Stadium, on Monday (6/6/2022). Since the beginning of the match the Selecao -the nickname of the Portuguese national team – dominated the game.
As a result, in the first half Portugal managed to excel through William, Carvalho (15′) and Cristiano Ronaldo (35′ 39′). Meanwhile, in the second half, Joao Cancelo (68 ‘) successfully completed his team’s victory.
After the match Cristiano Ronaldo sent a message via his Instagram @cristiano. The 37-year-old striker said the victory over Switzerland was the start of his team to perform even better in the next match.
“A very important victory in our journey, a lot of pride and confidence in this group, a lot of power to give Portugal what we wanted: a win and a convincing performance,” wrote Cristiano Ronaldo, quoted on his Instagram, Monday (6/6/2022).
“It looks like the season is coming to an end, but actually it’s only just begun!” he added.
With these results, Portugal has now successfully become the leader of Group A2, having managed to collect four points. Even so, Portugal is still far from safe enough to qualify for the next round easily.
The reason is, there are still four matches in the group stage. Nearby, they will meet the Czech Republic on Friday 10 June 2022. This match is predicted to be tight. The reason is, the Czechs themselves have secured four points, from the results of one win and one draw. Currently, the Czechs are in second place, trailing Portugal.
