Potawatomi Hotel & Casino project reaches a new milestone

Late last week, a topping-off ceremony was hosted at the second tower of the Potawatomi Hotel & Casino in Milwaukee. Officials of the venue along with construction crews and stakeholders were on hand to mark the milestone as the project moves on to the interior portion. Moving forward the second hotel tower will be connected to an existing hotel tower that is 19 stories high and home to 381 guest rooms, built just four years ago. With the expansion, the property will be able to offer 119 more guest rooms along with meeting space and a spa. The new venue is expected to open next spring, with the project being completed without any help from the city of Milwaukee. Gilbane Building Company is the contractor behind the project. Work on the project has progressed fairly quickly, with help from an existing foundation that was put in place when the first tower was created in 2014. The casino started steps back then to be ready for a future expansion. According to Urbanmilwaukee.

Ned Daniels Jr., the tribe chair of the Forest County Potawatomi, commented during the topping-off ceremony by stating: “This hotel project is important not only to the continued success of the Potawatomi Hotel & Casino to offer a first-rate entertainment option to Milwaukee and beyond, but also to continue to fuel our tribe’s investment in Milwaukee.”

More Space to come the new hotel tower is not the only component of this project. The property will be adding 70,000 square feet of space between the casino and the tower that will be available to host weddings, conventions and banquets. The project has moved forward rather quickly, considering the casino officially broke ground on the second hotel tower in December. The $80 million project continues to move forward, set to allow the property to host even more guests in the near future.
