Liverpool have just won a dramatic victory over Fulham in Week 14 of the 2023-2024 Premier League, on Sunday (3/12/2023). Playing at Anfield Stadium, the team nicknamed The Reds actually won with a narrow score of 4-3.
Liverpool actually almost lost because they were 2-3 behind in the 80th minute. However, Jurgen Klopp’s team was able to recover and score two goals through the actions of Wataru Endo (87′) and Trent Alexander-Arnold (88′).
Previously Liverpool’s two goals were scored by own goals from Bernd Leno (20′) and Alexis Mac Allister (38′). Now thanks to this victory, Liverpool continues to maintain second position with 31 points, while Fulham is stuck in 14th position with 15 points.
Liverpool appeared fierce from the early minutes of the match and continued to put pressure on Fulham’s defense. However, until 15 minutes into the first half, no goals had been scored.
The team nicknamed The Reds finally opened the scoring in the 20th minute through a beautiful free kick taken by Trent Alexander-Arnold. Liverpool took a 1-0 lead even though in the end the goal was deemed to be an own goal by Fulham goalkeeper Bernd Leno.
Conceding one goal, Fulham stepped on the gas and tried to equalize. It didn’t take long for them to make the score 1-1 through a goal scored by Harry Wilson in the 24th minute.
The score which was again equal made Liverpool even hungrier to add goals and get away from the visitors again. Alexis Mac Allister (38′) finally succeeded in giving Liverpool a 2-1 lead.
Towards the end of the first half, Fulham was able to equalize again at 2-2 through Kenny Tete (45+3′). Fulham scored another goal after that, but the goal was disallowed for offside and the first half ended with the score 2-2.
The start of the second half was fierce with both teams trying to add goals and pull away. After that, Liverpool seemed to have more control of the ball and threatened Fulham’s goal.
The next goal only arrived in the 80th minute, scored by Bobby Decordova-Reid. He put Fulham ahead 3-2 ten minutes before the end of the match.
Liverpool didn’t just give up, they continued to launch attacks that shook Fulham’s defense line. The equalizing goal for Liverpool only arrived in the 87th minute, scored by Wataru Endo.
The equal score didn’t last long because one minute later, Trent Alexander-Arnold was able to break through Leno’s goal. Liverpool also successfully made a comeback and won 4-3 in today’s match.
