Manchester City have mastered the game and appear dominant since the first half. The collaboration of Bernardo Silva, Rodri, and Ilkay Gundogan in midfield made The Citizens really difficult to stop by Everton.
Pep Guardiola’s squad had plenty of chances to score but were often raw in finishing.
In the first five minutes, Man City concentrated more attack on the left side of the Everton defense. However, the tight defense of the visitors made it difficult for the hosts to get opportunities.
Without Kevin De Bruyne who was exposed to COVID-19, Man City relied on attacking through the trio of Phil Foden, Raheem Sterling and Cole Palmer.
Meanwhile, Everton, who rely on counter-attacks, have not managed to get a ripe opportunity until the game runs for 15 minutes.
Entering the 20th minute, the combination of Phil Foden and Raheem Sterling on the left and right of Man City could not penetrate the Everton defense that played disciplined and tight.
The new impasse was broken in the 44th minute through Raheem Sterling. This goal could not be separated from Joao Cancelo’s foresight to see the gap. Cancelo sent a pass straight into the face of goal which was followed by a Sterling shot.
After winning 1-0 in the first half, Man City continued to put pressure on Everton. Man City’s second goal was finally born in the 55th minute through Rodri.
Rodri who got a wild ball fired hard from outside the penalty box. The ball shot sharply into the goal without being stopped by Jordan Pickford.
Despite leading by two goals, Man City still chose to dominate possession and continued to press. This makes Everton unable to create opportunities and threaten the Man City defense.
Man City finally increased the score to 3-0 through Bernardo Silva in the 86th minute.
This goal stems from an attack built by Ilkay Gundogan. Gundogan gives the ball to Cole Palmer who tries to kick a shot on goal.
The ball hit the Everton defender and instead then fell at the feet of Bernardo Silva. The Portuguese player had no trouble beating Pickford from close range.
The 3-0 score for Manchester City lasted until the end of the game. With these results, Man City then managed to maintain their second position in the 2021-2022 Premier League standings. While Everton must be willing to be ranked 11th with a total of 15 points. Everton were completely helpless by Man City at the Etihad Stadium.
